Bangladesh society of Microbiologists (BSM) was established in 1976 with a view to promote microbiology education and research in Bangladesh. The goals and objectives of the society are to bring together the microbiologists working in different fields and share their experiences and ideas so that they can contribute to the development of this nation in a more coherent and organized manner. Formation of the society paved the way to the establishment of the Department of Microbiology atdifferent Universities of Bangladesh, including University of Dhaka.
