The Akaliko Company - Dhaka, Bangladesh

Akaliko is a multifaceted, collaborative entity founded in 2012 as a Facebook group by Khan Mohammad Faisal, Vru Patel, and Shoummo Saha. What started as a platform for bedroom music producers in Dhaka has since grown into an independent record label, DIY artist collective, and sound art project. Akaliko's mission is to bring together creative minds from across disciplines, including music producers, writers, choreographers/dancers, communication specialists, and psychologists, in order to produce music, workshops, music videos, and sound art projects. Akaliko has also become a resource for other small record labels, providing them with the tools to grow their own identities.

organization. More recently, Akaliko has pivoted to become a private limited company in 2018. As a result, the Akaliko family has grown to include a diverse array of creative thinkers. Akaliko is a member of ASEF 360 Culture, Samdani Artist-led Initiative, and is the winner of the BRAC Manthan Award. The company has also been featured at Startup Dhaka. Akaliko's primary focus is on electronic music, and the team has used digital solutions like podcasting to reach a wider audience.
