Apon operates a shop both inside and outside the factory, selling food and other disposable items to workers at a discounted rate. Through collaboration with consumer goods manufacturing companies, these products cost workers up to 10% less than what they would pay in a retail store outside the factory. Every purchase from the shop earns the worker points which accumulate on their Apon account. For every 100 Bangladeshi taka (around $1.25) spent, the worker earns 1 Apon point. When they have collected 200 points, they are eligible for zero-cash health coverage, which gives them access to free medical diagnoses and prescriptions from a doctor, maternity, hospitalization, and life coverage.
