I am a retired RN with HMO insurance and picked Dr. Begun as my PCP because she was "in network" and because I thought it would be nice to have a female doctor. Right away I was uncomfortable with how abrupt she was to her staff and how easily I could hear conversations in the other exam rooms. I came in with only one major concern: increasing pain in my cervical spine. She ordered an X-ray of that area and blood work. Next visit, she made a big deal about my FBS which was only slightly elevated and I had to remind her that we needed to review the X-ray, which showed many degenerative changes and moderate to severe stenosis. She said I needed a MRI and a neurosurgeon. She did order a course of Prednisone and Celebrex. I had to wait 2 months to see the neurosurgeon and was in a lot of pain even with the medication. She never suggested I might benefit from physical therapy or a cortisone injection. Four visits later (every time an hour wait), when I confronted her on this, she became very defensive and after yelling at me, asked me to leave her office and not come back. This is the most unprofessional behavior I have ever experienced. She left me without a doctor for almost a month and even refused a signature that would enable me to start physical therapy before seeing another doc. She is far from the caring, knowledgeable, respectful guide I was expecting when I chose her. This is the first review I have ever filed.
